Joel Gott 2015 Sauvignon Blanc

Hey guys! So this Wednesday night was a SUCCESS! We were able to go LIVE! We could shout it from the roof top.. or that amazing balcony we were standing on.. As you know the last few weeks were a serious struggle due to technical difficulty! We finally had a smooth sailing evening!

We went live from The Gulf and enjoyed a 2015 Joel Gott Sauvignon Blanc. It is made of 100% Sauvignon Blanc, blended from six California counties; Napa, Sonoma, Santa Barbara, Monterey, Lake County & Lodi. To preserve the wine’s fruit and acidity the vineyard goes through a process of a long, cool fermentation in stainless steel tanks. Adding to the process, some wine is placed into smaller stainless steel drums which gives the wine an added texture and roundness from a sur lie aging process.

Joel Gott Sauvignon Blanc can be picked up at a very affordable price from any of your local wine shops. It had a pale, straw yellow color with a very clear clarity. We were surprised by the smell. Honestly I personally was expecting a heavy citrus smell based on previous Sauvignon Blanc tastings. Once the bouquet opened up we were pleasantly surprised to find natural, soft citrus, fruitful scents!

You know how some wine smells one way yet taste completely different? Well that is NOT this wine. The aroma carried right over to the taste! With an off dry light body we found the same hints of natural, soft citrus, fruitful flavors. Specifically we found a lot of white fruits; like white peach and white grape. We found hints of kiwi with a honeysuckle finish. One thing was missing; we both found a sort of lime flavor. This was not a lime fruit, or an artificial lime taste; we finally discovered it was a lime sorbet flavor! Once we discovered it, that was pretty much all we could taste, but we were NOT complaining. The finish was very long, if you are drinking it while you are reading this, one sip could get you through it!  The combination of great flavor, light body with a long finish made this Sauvignon Blanc the perfect relaxing warm weather wine.

The night was perfect; our wine was great and we had so much fun at The Gulf! We stayed after our Live segment to enjoy the atmosphere and great food. The Gulf often has specialty drinks that are worth checking out! We will be returning soon for a head to head challenge of some canned wine. Everyone who is local please come join us!

We tried something a little different after our Live show; we immediately went back and watched our segment. Usually we wait a few days then check it out. We spent about an hour laughing at ourselves and coming up with some new fun ideas for the future. We realized we are better at finishing each others sentences than we thought, and that we are really good at just rolling with it when the other person throws out some crazy stuff we have never talked about.. “More than likely” we will be choosing a winner for a giveaways soon, maybe. (yes this is an inside joke.. Winners WILL be announced soon)

Conclusion:

Our wine was perfect and our location was paradise! We had the perfect Summer Night!

Joel Gott Sauvignon Blanc pairs well with sand, friends, and cheeseburgers!
